Solamalai College of Engineering, formerly known as Raja College of Engineering and Technology, was established in 1995. In 2016, the college was acquired by the Solamalai Group, a prominent brand in Madurai with a history dating back to 1962 when it began as a single lorry operator. Over the years, the Solamalai Group has diversified its business operations across Tamil Nadu, engaging in various sectors such as FMCG distribution, C&F services, goods truck transportation, passenger services, infrastructure, and cinema exhibition.
